Meet our new CIO, David Stuart

We are delighted to announce the appointment of David Stuart as our new Chief Investment Officer.

With nearly 40 years’ experience in the investment industry, David joins Tasplan with a wealth of knowledge about the organisation, having been the lead consultant advising Tasplan for over a decade in his previous role as Chief Strategist for Mercer in the Pacific region.

A former partner in Mercer’s Wealth business, David also served as the Chair of Mercer Australia’s Dynamic Asset Allocation Committee, as well as chairing the Global Dynamic Asset Allocation Committee.

Prior to joining Mercer, David worked in a variety of roles in the industry, including Regional CIO for HSBC Asset Management, where he was responsible for all investment teams across the Asia Pacific region.

David has also held senior investment roles at Prudential Portfolio Managers, Norwich Union and Victorian Funds Management Corporation. Before immigrating to Australia in 1994, he was the Investment Manager for the British Gas pension funds in London.

He holds a Master of Arts (economics and mathematics) from Cambridge University, UK, and the Investment Management Certificate from the London Business School, UK.

Chair of the Tasplan Board, Naomi Edwards, said Tasplan is extremely grateful for the opportunity to welcome to the team someone with such strong experience and intimate knowledge of Tasplan.

‘David’s extensive experience in senior investment management places him perfectly to oversee Tasplan’s portfolio as the fund continues to grow,’ Ms Edwards said.

'The expertise and understanding of dynamic asset allocation David demonstrated during his time at Mercer, one of the largest investment advisors in the world, will no doubt assist Tasplan in continuing to deliver excellent returns for our members.'
